On 16th and 17th January, the city of Gironella hosted Createx Project second partners meeting. Organized by Ajuntament de Gironella the meeting has been very useful to develop the program of activities to be carried out in the coming months.We talked about how textile and fashion archives can serve as valuable sources of inspiration for creatives in the design of new collections, which is the main axis of the project contents and we discussed the many possibilities offered by different heritage preserved in the involved territories, as the one belonging to this charming little Spanish town with an interesting textile tradition, witnessed by the many colonies used since the nineteenth century for textile production. We have been in one of the most interesting, Colonia Vidal, situated right next to the Llobregat river formed part of one of the main concentrations of textile colonies in Europe. Walking through Museu de la Colònia Vidal we relived the life in a textile colony discovering what life and work was like in a Catalan textile colony of the early 20th century, visiting spaces such as the school, the factory and the homes as testimony to the Industrial Revolution in the area.
